Responsible Gambling

Poker is entertainment. Most players lose over time, and online gambling carries real financial and psychological risk. This page exists so you know the warning signs, know where to get help, and know how to lock yourself out of a poker site if you need to.

Age and legal access

You must be at least 18 years old to play poker on any site listed on PokerBitcoins. In some US states and regulated EU markets, the minimum is 21. Always confirm the legal age in your own jurisdiction before depositing. Online poker is not legal everywhere. If you are unsure, read our country-by-country legal guide.

Warning signs of a gambling problem

If two or more of these apply to you in a given week, pause and speak to someone:

  • You are playing with money you cannot afford to lose, including rent, credit, or borrowed funds.
  • You chase losses by increasing stakes or session length.
  • You hide time or money spent on poker from family or partners.
  • You feel anxious, irritable, or restless when not playing.
  • You have missed work, sleep, or social commitments because of online play.
  • You have tried to stop and found it difficult.

How to set limits before you play

Every reputable bitcoin poker room offers at least three of the following. Set them before your first session, not after a bad one.

  • Deposit limits — cap how much you can fund per day, week, or month.
  • Loss limits — cap how much you can lose in a session.
  • Session reminders — trigger a pop-up every 30 or 60 minutes of play.
  • Time-out — lock yourself out for 24 hours to 30 days.
  • Self-exclusion — permanent or multi-year account closure. This is not reversible on most rooms.

If a site does not offer deposit or self-exclusion controls, leave and do not return.

Financial blocks

Most major banks can block gambling transactions on debit cards. If you self-exclude at the operator level but still struggle, ask your bank to enable a gambling block. For crypto-funded poker specifically, most exchanges (Coinbase, Kraken, Binance) allow you to freeze withdrawals to specific addresses or set cooldowns on outgoing transfers.
